JUMP – The 80’s Night

The 80’s had it all, didn’t it?

 

Tom Cruise was at the peak of his career in Cocktail, knocking over Casinos in Rainman and of course, Top Gun.

That’s enough about the serious stuff, the 80’s was also about Commodore 64s, Tetris, Pacman, Super Mario Bros and in sport, Kerry were winning All-Irelands, Maradona was scoring with his fist.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Eddie Murphy, Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone became the international house hold names for a variety of blockbusters, such as Terminator, Robocop, Lethal Weapon and Beverly Hills Cop.

The TV shows, Murder She Wrote, Knight Rider, Chips, Married with Children and Seinfeld, as well as McGyver.

John Lennon, Bob Marley, Marvyn Gaye and Andy Gibbs all began making music from the other side.

The 80’s heralded the arrival of the MTV. There was Live Aid in 1985.

The 80’s were the last of the real big anthem era. There was Queen, Bon Jovi, Madonna, Guns N Roses, Europe, AC/DC, Metallica and Shakin Stevens singing about the Green Door.

Of course, on the opposite side of the scale, there was Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash, the Beastie Boys and the arrival of Will Smith as the Fresh Prince.
